Hassan Kutty Award for the Best Debut Film
at the 13th International Film Festival of Kerala

Manjadikurru (Lucky Red Seeds ) Directed by Anjali Menon (117min/Mal/2008)


has won the Hassan Kutty Award for the Best Debut Film for holding a mirror to universal issues relating to families through a specifically regional story, for it's simple and yet nuanced narrative, it's sensitive and but unsentimental rendition of the plight of the women and underprivileged; and it's remarkable direction of children.
The Award instituted by Mira Nair in memory of her long time associate Hassan Kutty carries a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a certificate and an award sculpture.
