An account of the toll of Mozambique’s long civil war, Sleepwalking Land, is the film adaptation of Mia Cuto’s novel of the same title. Young Muidinga and his protector old Tauhir wander the war-torn landscape of Mozambique carrying the burden of a horrible past. They find a manuscript form a burned-out bus which the young boy reads out to the illiterate old man. It tells the story of Kindzu whose entire family was slaughtered in thr riot. Wscaping from the ruins of the village, he meets Farida who is waiting for her lost son. This story brings forth some unforeseen changes in the life of Muidinga who sets out on a quest of his identity.
